Stepan RudenkoWe welcome Stepan Rudenko to First Presbyterian Church!

"Music is my passion, and the ability to share this passion with students is the greatest reward in my life."

-- Stepan Rudenko

BIO:
Stepan Rudenko was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. He began his studies at an early age at Ukrainian National Music School 10. In 1999, he moved to California, where he continued studies with Anna and Viktor Polonsky, founders of the Polonsky Piano School - The Russian School of Music in Northern California, and later with Dr. Michael Schmitz, chair of Piano Department at Notre Dame de Namur University.

Stepan received a Bachelor of Music degree at the New England Conservatory of Music in 2010, where he was a scholarship student and has studied with Patricia Zander and Veronica Jochum. In 2005, he was first prize winner in the U.S. Open Music Competition and winner of the nineteenth annual Young Pianists' Beethoven Competition. He is currently collaborating with many composers of new music in performances in Boston and San Francisco as well as many collaborative projects with various artists in the area.

Stepan is currently running his own private piano studio in Belmont, and San Jose, and freelancing in the San Francisco Bay Area.

LESSONS:
Stepan is offering piano lessons in the South Bay/Peninsula area. He holds a New England Conservatory bachelor degree and has three years of experience teaching students of all ages. He teaches from his home in Belmont on a baby grand piano in a large room that allows great sound to be projected from the instrument, and also at the First Presbyterian Church on 49 North Fourth Street, San Jose.

“My goal in teaching piano is to allow the student to experience music from all genres. We will explore everything from classical to contemporary music. I also don’t spend more than three months on a single piece with a student because being able to move through pieces at a fairly good speed will allow the student to learn how to sight read faster and keep the interest going for music that the student is playing. Solfege and theory are an important part of music and the ability to play, which is why all my lessons integrate some theory and solfege.  I also teach lessons on theory and solfege during the week to develop advanced skills needed to be a better musician."

Private piano lessons, theory and solfege lessons offered. Half hour lessons are also available. Stepan will travel to your home for lessons. Price of lessons will be adjusted reasonably based on the distance traveled. Lessons are also given at First Presbyterian Church following the Sunday Service on a wonderful grand piano in the main hall.
